Privacy Policy
Last Updated: February 23, 2026
At LeapRows ("we", "us", or "our"), operated by Yuki Nakazawa (Sole Proprietor), we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. Our core philosophy is Local-First: your data belongs to you and stays with you.
1. Local-First Processing (Your Data Stays With You)
LeapRows is designed to process data locally on your device.
- File Content: When you open or process files (CSV, Parquet, etc.), the data is processed entirely within your web browser using WebAssembly (WASM). Your raw data and file contents are never uploaded to our servers.
- No Access: We do not have access to, nor do we store, your imported data or the output files you generate.
- Recipes & Presets: Your data processing steps ("Recipes") and visualization presets are stored locally on your device unless you explicitly choose to export them.
Free Online Tools
Our free online tools at leaprows.com/tools follow the same Local-First principle. Files you process using /tools are handled entirely within your browser. No file data is transmitted to our servers.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information only to provide and improve the Service.
A. Personal Data (via Lemon Squeezy)
When you purchase a license, our Merchant of Record, Lemon Squeezy, collects:
- Email address
- Billing information (Name, Address, Credit Card details)
- Note: We only see your email and license status for support and verification. We never see or store your credit card numbers.
B. Contact Inquiries (via Formspree)
When you contact us via our website form, we use Formspree to manage and filter submissions. We collect your:
- Email address
- Name (if provided)
- Message content
- Purpose: This data is used solely to respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
C. Anonymous Analytics & Error Monitoring (PostHog)
Only if you explicitly opt-in, we use PostHog for anonymous usage analytics and error trend monitoring to help us improve the product. This implementation is Cookie-less and does not store your IP address.
Usage Analytics:
- Data Scale: Metadata such as row counts and file sizes (e.g., "1 million rows"). We never collect the actual content of your files (cell values, column names, etc.).
- Feature Usage: Statistics on which features are used (e.g., execution of filtering, sorting, adding columns).
- Device Info: Browser type, OS, and screen resolution.
Error Trend Monitoring:
- Error Counts Only: When errors occur, we record only which feature experienced the error and its severity level (e.g., "CSV import error"). We do not collect error messages, stack traces, or any content from your files.
- No Personal Data: Only predefined category labels written in our source code are transmitted. User input values cannot be included under any circumstances.
Privacy Protection:
- Data is associated with a temporary random ID. Since we do not use cookies, the session resets when you close the browser. We do not track you personally.
- File IDs in URLs are anonymized (e.g., "/view/f123..." becomes "/view/[id]").
D. Web Analytics (Marketing Site and /tools)
We use Vercel Analytics on our marketing website and /tools to understand visitor trends. This is a privacy-first tool that does not use cookies and does not collect personally identifiable information or track you across other websites.
E. Do Not Track Signals
We do not track you across third-party websites. Therefore, our Service does not respond to "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals from your browser.
3. Storage Technologies
We use the following to enable the Application to work:
- Origin Private File System (OPFS) & localStorage: To store your Recipes and temporary cache for the database engine (DuckDB-WASM). This data remains strictly on your device.
- Cookies: We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are from the European Economic Area (EEA), our legal basis for collecting data is:
- Contract: To provide you with the license and Service.
- Consent: When you opt-in to telemetry or email marketing.
- Legitimate Interests: To fix bugs and provide customer support.
5. California Resident Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to Know: You can request details about the categories of personal information we collect.
- Right to Delete: You can request the deletion of your personal information.
- Do Not Sell or Share: We do not sell, trade, or rent your Personal Data to third parties. We do not share your data for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise these rights, please contact us at support@leaprows.com.
6. Data Retention and Transfer
- Retention: We keep purchase records for as long as required by tax laws. Anonymous telemetry is kept for up to 24 months.
- Transfer: Your data may be processed in Japan, the USA (via Lemon Squeezy/Formspree), the EU (via PostHog), or other countries where our service providers operate. We ensure all providers offer adequate data protection.
7. Security of Data
The security of your data is important to us. We use commercially reasonable physical, managerial, and technical safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of your Personal Information (e.g., encryption via TLS/SSL, access controls). However, please remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location (GDPR/APPI), you have the right to:
- Access/Correct the personal data we hold about you.
- Delete your data (e.g., request removal of your email from our list).
- Withdraw Consent for telemetry at any time via the application settings.
To exercise these rights, contact us at support@leaprows.com.
9. Disclosure of Data
We may disclose your information only if required by law or to protect our rights, or in the event of a business merger/sale.
10. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
